It was the bad weather of this last week, with the negative effects on the road surface of the city streets, that contributed to the reopening of the political controversies over the agreement with the K-City consortium between the accusations of inefficiencies advanced by the minority and the prospect of having to wait a further twelve months before being able to modify the mechanisms (including parking costs) introduced by the new project. Just take a walk around the city to realize the damage caused by bad weather, also thanks to the quality of patches carried out by K-City teams on some streets (there is an obligation to restore the asphalt where the blue lines exist). There are two critical points in particular for motorists: the former provincial road 336 in Vaccheria and via Mondo, on the southern outskirts of the capital. Four motorists who, between Friday and yesterday morning, had punctured the tires on the former 336 where potholes and sinkholes have reopened along the sewer route which have nullified the recent maintenance works. He was the same scene near the unused tracks of via Mondo where, yesterday morning, the wheel of a minivan suffered a huge pothole.

The situation does not change in the other streets where there are parking stalls. Service suspended due to the rain which once again caused damage in via Gasparri (where a pothole was found in the first section and the reopening of which near the Cavallerizze area), via Vivaldi, viale Ellittico (large chasm in station area), via Renella, via Ricciardelli, via Picazio, via Turati, corso Giannone, via Sant’Antonio da Padova. All roads on which the company (in some it had already intervened) should intervene starting from Monday. However, the patches made by K-City in the other streets (in via Ruggiero, via Caduti sul Lavoro and piazza Matteotti) have held up so far.

The consortium, however, ends up in the minority’s sights. Speaking again about non-compliance is councilor Maurizio Del Rosso (Lega) who a few days ago had contested the company’s actions during the dispute over unpaid workers’ salaries. A criticism that also comes from the left, with Raffaele Giovine (Caserta Decide) confirming the doubts about the mobility contract. «I’m starting to be a little perplexed by this whole affair – he says – the numerous requests that had arrived from citizens still remain on the table, from the request to reintroduce splitting to the traders’ proposal to be able to take out a subscription to keep costs down. The same workers who do not receive salaries are forced to pay for parking to go to work. The most serious failure to comply is to deny workers’ rights.” «It’s the usual constant announcement without any concrete change, even to fill the potholes we should have made an app available to citizens for reporting – echoes Pasquale Napoletano (FdI) – but it seems that everything can be promised and then not kept ». To date, reports of potholes are sent to the auxiliaries and citizens (who can contact the municipal offices) while the deputy mayor and councilor for Mobility Emiliano Casale rejects the controversies to the sender.

«There is no non-compliance – he says – I say this as I also reiterated in the council, the company has 18 months to complete all the services». For the split, which the majority councilors are also keen on, the administration is agreeing a new solution with the company. Next month the positioning of the shared electric vehicles will be completed and the post-accident tow truck will be introduced while, for the cameras, the definition of the location entrusted to the municipal offices is awaited. In this regard, Casale announces the technical meeting for May 8th to define the installation of the 65 K-City systems which will contribute to video surveillance and the analysis of traffic flows. «We have put out to tender a detailed overall mobility system – continues Casale – the company has made itself available to undertake changes but only when all services have started and the reactions of citizens have been tested even if, where possible as for the free parking for the first two hours for electric cars, action has already been taken.” Priority goes to services considered essential (such as cameras) while the topic of potholes and chasms ends up in last place: “The reporting app – he concludes – will be the last of the actions to be implemented”.
