Next Friday 3 May, on the occasion of the National Day of Railways of Wonders, the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria in collaboration with the Ferrovie in Calabria Association has organized the Workshop on “Rail Tourism and Soft Mobility in Calabria. Best practices and development proposals”.

The workshop, which will be held starting from 3.00 pm in the Gilda Trisolini Library Hall of Palazzo Alvaro, focuses on the theme of railway tourism and tourist railways will be an important moment to encourage networking between institutions, bodies and tourism operators at in order to develop proposals to strengthen existing projects and new ideas related to soft and alternative mobility, increase the tourist offer by offering tourists the possibility of experiencing the peculiarities and uniqueness of the cultural and naturalistic heritage of the metropolitan area in an even more immersive way.

Considering that, as happens in every area of ​​intervention, especially in the tourism sector, to identify and implement effective development policies, it is evidently necessary to encourage discussion from which ideas and ideas emerge, it becomes essential to promote this type of event, in collaboration with associations, operators and stakeholders, as useful moments to develop an even more effective metropolitan tourism and marketing plan.

The event is part of the project “Travel by train, discover Calabria”, which the Ferrovie in Calabria Association promotes in collaboration with the Business Division of Trenitalia Calabria and sponsored by the FS Foundation, and already sponsored also by the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria, program of regional train events aimed at tourists and students which has already touched many locations in the regional and metropolitan area.

The mayor Giuseppe Falcomatà and the Councilor delegated for Tourism, as well as mayor of Palmi, Giuseppe Ranuccio, will take part in the event for the Metropolitan City. The works will be moderated by the journalist Franco Laratta and opened by Anna Donati, Spokesperson of A.Mo.Do. Sweet Mobility Alliance, and Alberto Sgarbi, President of the Italian Federation of Tourist and Museum Railways. The workshop, divided into two sessions, will propose a focus on “Tourist routes by train, a journey between history and innovation” and subsequently “Rediscovering the territory through Soft Mobility”.
