Swiatek terrified in Madrid: what happened
The Polish number one in the world she won over Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (number 2 in the international ranking) with a score of 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (7) and was thus able to lift the trophy at the end of the final, with the ceremony however peppered with a small scare for her. In fact, just before the Pole lifted the cup there was a crazy ‘bang’caused by the ‘confetti shooters’ positioned behind her.
