ANCONA – In the early afternoon of yesterday, a crew of the Flying Squad intervened in Piazza Cavour having noticed a man intent on urinating in the presence of several passers-by crossing the square. The man stopped, without identification documents, was found to be in possession of a wad of 20 euro banknotes, all of which had the same serial number. Therefore, he was accompanied to the Police Headquarters offices for the necessary investigations. He was identified as a 35-year-old Sudanese citizen, regularly residing in the Ligurian region, with numerous criminal records against property, public administration, violations of drug laws and acts contrary to public decency.

From a further and more accurate check of the banknotes in his possession, it was ascertained that they did not react to UV rays, were without watermark and had anomalous chromatic features.

From checks on the person, it was established that the foreigner was wearing three trousers. In the pocket of the first piece of clothing worn by the foreigner, other similar banknotes were found, all without security features and the same serial number. 41 counterfeit banknotes were then seized from him.

The Sudanese, as far as was ascertained, was referred to the competent Judicial Authority for spending counterfeit money (art. 455 CP) and for violating the rules on residence in the TN and specifically the obligation to show identification and residence documents ( art.6, paragraph 3, L. 286/98), as well as administratively sanctioned for acts against public decency (art. 726 CP)

Immediately, having assessed the social danger of the subject, the preventive measure of the Obbligatory Street Sheet was adopted against him by the Police Commissioner of Ancona, with which he was ordered to leave the municipal territory of Ancona with the ban to return for a period of three years.
