Today Fano celebrates the 79th anniversary of the Liberation by remembering the “martyrdom” of Giacomo Matteotti to whom the city street is dedicated. In recent years, also thanks to the good weather, the traditional city ceremony on April 25th, attended by the mayor Massimo Seri and all the other civil and religious authorities, has always been well attended. But today the weather forecast is not as encouraging.
In any case, the morning program includes a meeting at 10.15 in front of the municipal residence, for the laying of the laurel wreath commemorating the fallen Fano partisans.
Then the procession will reach Piazzale Malatesta where laurel wreaths will be placed on the plaque commemorating the two young victims from Fano, Renata Marconi and Temistocle Paolini.
We will then proceed towards the adjacent monument to the partisan resistance donated to the city by the ANPI, located in the Biancheria Morelli gardens. Finally, after passing the memorial stone located in front of the Rocca Malatestiana, the march ends in front of the monument to the fallen of all wars, in Viale Buozzi. At 11am the inauguration of the commemorative epigraph dedicated to Giacomo Matteotti on the centenary of his martyrdom at the former SantArcangelo college.
The great celebration for the liberation of the country from Nazi-fascist oppression then continues in Piazza XX Settembre with the concert by the Città di Fano band which will conclude the ceremonies.
But the rich program (started on March 28th) organized for the occasion by the Leda Antinori section of Anpi Fano does not end here.
On Saturday at 3.30pm at Masetti there will be a screening of the film “Mary and the Midnight Spirit” by Enzo d’Alò, the third to last event of the program “One Morning I Woke Up” which will end on 11 May.
