The Flood Committees are non-partisan. Because the flood victims are neither right nor left

With reference to the latest news from the press, particularly from Cesena, regarding Mauro Mazzotti, President of the Cesena Flood Committee, who has decided to enter politics on the list of Brothers of Italy pursuing his legitimate personal objectives, the Union of Committees Alluvionati Faentini dissociates itself from electoral political choices made on behalf of flood victims.

The choice of field belongs to the President of the Cesena committee e it does not involve the assembled committees and the Faenza union which must remain absolutely NON-PARTITIC. The action carried out by the Faenza Flood Committees has always been and will always be characterized by the most complete impartiality with respect to any political party because the flood victims are neither right nor left. They are citizens who have suffered a tragic event and who are asking for answers both on the compensation and on safety. These are the only goals that the Flood Committees pursue.

The Faenza Flood Committees have always interacted with the institutions to achieve the aforementioned objectives; mind you, with the institutions (Government, Region, Municipality) not with the parties. There is no doubt that Mauro Mazzotti, over the last year, has “given his all” in addressing the needs of citizens affected by the catastrophic events of last May and has been particularly active in relating to the members of the government majority for the solution of the serious problems that still afflict citizens affected by the 2023 emergency.

However, we must underline that no sensational result has been “achieved” and few relatively marginal objectives, among those countless times reported, have been achieved, despite the “active interest”, the “availability”, the “proximity to our territory and the needs of the flood victims” of the institutions and government personalities mentioned in the press.

Some of the most serious problems, which the aforementioned interlocutors had repeatedly promised us could overcome, are in fact still unresolved, and we refer, among others and in particular:
• the continuing lack of compensation for lost movable property, the fundamental and most widespread damage suffered by flood victims;
• to the problem still today represented by the unavailability of the tax credit, a necessary financial instrument for the less well-off to start remediation work on homes into which they still cannot return;
• the lack of simplification and acceleration of the bureaucratic procedures connected to the approval of the appraisals required to obtain the necessary financial compensation.

Finally, as Committees, we had repeatedly asked that, for minor damages, for example up to 20,000/30,000 euros, it was not necessary to declare the construction regularity of the property, especially in the case of interventions to simply restore the situation quo ante, therefore attributing the compensation with the same method already adopted for the Immediate Support Contribution.

The path towards an effective management of refreshments and a certain and complete safety of the territory is still long, and it is still remembered that, to date, the citizens suffering from the events of a year ago have obtained, with the exception of numerically irrelevant exceptions , a maximum of €5,750 per family.
