Green light for the agreement for 531 million for Tuscany

Soil protection, healthcare, roads, culture and sport. These are some of the areas in which the funds from the Development and Cohesion Fund intended for Tuscany will be used. Between 17 cohesion agreements approved in recent days by the Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development (Cipess), also includes the one signed last March 13th in Florence between the Government and the Tuscany Region.

It’s about 531 million euroswhich are added to the 151 already assigned in advance in 2021 and 2023, for a total of over 680 million euros.

A part of the FSC funds, for approximately 102 million, will be used to co-finance community programmes, in particular the European Regional Development Fund 21/27, freeing up corresponding current funds which can be dedicated to healthcare. As far as infrastructure is concerned, over 100 million are earmarked for road resurfacing and the three tram axes in the metropolitan area are being completed.

Below are some of the most significant interventions by size of the FSC funding awarded.

Construction of tramway line 2.2 lot 1: airport – scientific center section of Sesto Fiorentino: financed with 111.5 million Fesr 21/27, to which must now be added 113 million in Fsc 21/27 financing, which allow the complete financing of the route to be guaranteed. The extension of Line 2.2 from the Amerigo Vespucci Airport towards the scientific center is part of the broader project for the creation of a tram network serving the metropolitan area which constitutes one of the main actions of the Integrated Regional Plan for Infrastructure and Mobility and has among its objectives that of allowing rapid mass transport between the city of Florence and the major attraction centers present in the metropolitan area, subtracting a further share of users from private transport and public road transport.

Sp 64 Cipressino – adaptation and safety measures, implementer Tuscany Region, financed with Fsc 21/27 for a total of 65 million. The Regional Council has started the acquisition of the SP64 Cipressino from the regional state property as part of a broader program of interventions responding to the needs of direct connection between the geothermal basin of the Amiata area with the state road network represented by the SS2 Cassia in an east direction and from the SS223 heading west, with the aim of giving impetus to the development of the area with reference to the exploitation of the Amiata geothermal basin.

Construction of the New Santa Chiara University Hospital in Cisanello-Pisa, the implementing body is the Pisan Hospital Company, financed with Fsc 21/27 funds for 15 million and the northern link road between the Madonna dell’acqua-Cisanello section; functional section including nodes 2-3, implementing body the Province of Pisa, financed with FSC funds for 5.9 million. In the first case, it concerns complementary financing for the works of the new hospital and in the second case a road intervention also for the purpose of the new hospital in Cisanello.

Interventions on the roads in the Florentine-Pratese plain area, the Valdinievole and the Cortona ring road
– Ring road, 1st lot, 3rd section – from via Santelli to the RFI exchange car park, municipality of Signa, FSC financing 4 million;
– Adaptation of local roads and integration of regional roads – Lastra a Signa – lot II, municipality of Lastra a Signa, FSC financing 6.5 million;
– Construction of the extension of the southern ring road from Via Barberinese to the Capalle roundabout, municipality of Campi Bisenzio, FSC financing 12.5 million;
– Improvement of the intersection between the Srt 435 and the Sp 40 of the Nievole in the municipality of Serravalle Pistoiese, implementing body Tuscany Region, FSC funding 9.6 million;
– Reorganization of the road system relating to the Sp25 – Srt 436, municipality of Larciano (Pt), implementing body Tuscany Region, FSC funding 11.4 million;
– Srt n. 436 – Variation between Pazzera and Sp n. 26 Camporcioni in the Biscolla area – lot 4, implementing body Tuscany Region, FSC financing 12 million;
– Variant to srt 71 – lot 3 – Municipality of Cortona, implementing body Tuscany Region, FSC financing 14 million.

Sports interventions
– Construction of a new sports complex in the Pallavicini area, municipality of Pistoia, FSC financing of 15 million
– Redevelopment of the “Magona” municipal stadium, municipality of Piombino, FSC financing 4 million
– Completion of the air conditioning system of the “Palacarrara” sports hall in the municipality of Pistoia, FSC financing of 895 thousand euros

Interventions for culture
– Redevelopment of the Santa Apollonia complex, implemented by the Regional Agency for the Right to Education, FSC financing of 5 million
– Redevelopment of the Arno river undercrossing – Pescaia San Niccolò, implementing body Municipality of Florence, FSC financing 7.5 million

Interventions against hydrogeological instability
– Creation of the third module of the Pizziconi expansion fund, implementing body Tuscany Region, FSC financing 3.2 million
– Consolidation intervention of the existing embankments of the Era-Pontedera river; lot 1, implementing body Tuscany Region, 4.2 million FSC financing from Piombino, which are in addition to the 47 already allocated from the Development and Cohesion Fund of the 2014/2020 programming cycle.
