Without a doubt, 72 years is a sufficiently long period of time to be born, grow up and even go to school. So if today Trento is known for being, among other things, the “city of festivals”it is also due to the one who first, in 1952, opened its doors to welcome cinema and mountain enthusiasts.

Today the Trento Film Festival «is a heritage of all Trentino people. This demonstration it can only grow and live here, can never be “delocalized”» comments president Mauro Leveghi, and the edition starting on Friday 26th (and scheduled until May 5th) would seem to confirm this. The almost 120 films, over 160 events and the T4Future calendar, programming dedicated to new generationsIn fact, schools, teachers, children and families inhabit every space of the city. From 27 April to 5 May the historic Parco dei Mestieri will return to Piazza Fiera which, with an eye towards the future, seeks to bring the little ones closer to the traditions and professions of the Highlands. The over eighty events are free and open to entry, with inauguration scheduled for Saturday 27 April at 3.30 pm, followed by the Open Air Circus show by the Bolla di Sapone association. The MontagnaLibri pavilion will be located in Piazza Duomo: literature enthusiasts will be able to meet from I live authors and authors who will present their works, also thanks to the important and confirmed collaboration with the ITAS Mountain Book Award.

Literary meetings

Literary meetings also in Augustinian cloister and in many other places in the city, such as the Muse. The heart of the event evenings will be the stage of the Teatro Sociale, where Beppe Severgnini, Tamara Lunger, Reinhold Messner, Alessio Boni, Corrado Augias, Veronica Pivetti and many others will take to the stage, but large events will also be hosted in the Philharmonic Hall, at the Santa Chiara Auditorium , at the Sanbapolis Theatre, in the classrooms of the University of Trento, at the garden of the Buonconsiglio Castle and in other places of reference in the city. Baita Festival is also back, a space of conviviality and Trentino flavours, set up in Piazza Cesare Battisti, where you can meet protagonists of the world of the highlands, mountaineers, authors, directors and climate activists. The city’s theaters will instead host films, documentaries, long and short films, animated films which will compete for the prizes and recognitions awarded by the international jury. But there will also be space for fifteen “special recognitions” offered by associations or bodies that are partners of the Festival, awarded by independent juries, and two prizes awarded by the public.

«Anthropocene Muses»

Among these are the «Anthropocene Muse» Award, the «Cinema for Human Rights» Award of the Campana dei Caduti Foundation and Trentino Forum for peace and human rights and the “Green Film” Award from the Agency for the Protection of Human Rightsenvironment and the Trentino Film Commission.
