“Let’s stop the massacre of cats in Velletri”: now also the Petition on Change.org to save them from dogs
Descriptive text here

It is a massacre that does not seem to have an end, that of the many cats killed by the Maremma dogs who for months now they go on raids in the territory of the city of Velletridoing massacre of small felines and frightening passers-by.

After a break of a few days, during which it was thought that the owner of the three Maremmas had become aware of the problem, the dogs were free to attack again. And on the ground, helpless and lifeless, other cats remained.

So much so that ‘who decided to launch an online petition, via Change.org, the platform that allows you to collect digital signatures. The aim is to save as many cats as possible.

“With this collection I and other volunteers from Velletri – we read in the text of the petition – we hope to raise awareness among the Veliterne institutions to help us create a shelter for stray cats who have been mauled by dogs that roam free in the Velletri area for a long time now. The dogs are not just strays but above all owners. The cats killed are colony cats, adults, mother cats with kittens and also owner cats left free to go outside.

We ask that the Mayor of Velletri take this unacceptable situation to heart and take action to create a shelter for cats as there already is a kennel in Velletri. Please sign and help us reach our goal.”

Let us remember that, as far as the Maremma people are concerned, they are not stray dogs at all. but of owner dogs, which escape the owner’s control, wandering freely through the streets of the city. Dogs who, instead of finding themselves in “their” home, in the area of Via Contrada Comune, leave from there every day for their city “tour”.

In February the three dogs (two completely white, a third with black spots) were also spotted in via Fontana delle Fosse, where they attacked a little girl just left the door of her building to go to school. On that occasion, the fright suffered by the pupil was enormous and she found refuge in a nearby shop, where she was looked after by the owners, who in vain proceeded to immediately report it to the relevant authorities.

“I’m tired of putting cats in bags, we can’t go on like this,” thundered a resident of via Fontana delle Fosse in recent weeks. Once again we hope that the owner of the three dogs will be ordered to take custody of the three dogs and make them safe, under penalty of the painful choice of having to consider them strays at that point, with the risk of having to take them to the kennel if they do not have a microchip.
