Voltage a Rome at demonstrations for 25 April to Porta San Paolo. In Piazzale Ostiense – next to the Pyramid of Cestius – whistles and insults flew among the crowd Jewish brigadewho laid a laurel wreath around 8:30 am, and the participants at a contemporary pro-Palestine garrison entitled “Anti-fascism and anti-Zionism”, convened by associations from the opposing area and university collectives. The latter chanted “Free, free Palestine” And “Zionists out of Palestine“, which, on the other end, was responded with insults, rude gestures and the choir”terrorists, terrorists“. The Jewish brigade then threw paper bombs towards the garrison (video) and even some stones against the reporters who were filming. Members of the group tried several times to break through the police cordon to reach the pro-Gaza demonstrators, but were blocked.

At the same time, as every year, the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella placed a laurel wreath at the shrine of The Unknown Soldier at the Altare della Patria in Rome. The highest institutional officials participated in the ceremony: the Prime Minister Giorgia Melonithe president of the Senate Ignazio La Russathat of the Chamber Lorenzo Fontana and that of the Constitutional Court Augusto Barbera. Mattarella stopped in front of the monument for a moment of reflection, and at the end he greeted the authorities present. Unlike past years, the enormous construction site for the subway set up in the center of Piazza Venezia prevented the presence of the public.

The traditional event ofAnpi, the partisans’ association. The procession, headed by a banner with the words “The partisans”, started from Largo Bompiani and will reach Porta San Paolo, where various speeches from the stage are expected: among others that of Roberto Salis, the father of the 39-year-old teacher Ilaria, in prison in Hungary and candidate for the European elections by the Greens and Left Alliance. At the head of the procession are the partisan and anti-fascist memory associations, with banners and flags of peace.
