The under 15s of Stella Carni Viterbo were victorious

NewTuscia – ROME – A busy Saturday for the Under 15s of STELLA CARNI VITERBO engaged in two matches worthy of the name. The Under 15s return home once again with two victories, thus maintaining first place in the standings.

FIRST MATCH: CALI ROMA XIII – STELLA CARNI VITERBO: 4 to 8

In the first match of the day Viterbo plays against Cali Roma XIII.

The match immediately made the determination of the visiting team clear as they managed to get three points from the first attack thanks to hits from Cabrera, Pierini and Mazza Alessio. and a double by Di Martino.

Cali responded with the only hit of the game and tied the score thanks to an error by the third baseman.

The second inning does not see us as protagonists and the host team is ahead.

In the third attack Viterbo seems to have found its usual dynamism again and the clubs woke up again. From this moment numerous hits begin to follow, including a triple by Fortunati Alessandro and two consecutive doubles by Di Martino and Mazza Alessio.

Viterbo is ahead again with a partial result of 6 to 4.

The first part of the match sees Fortunati on the mound with one hit conceded and 4 strike outs in two innings. Di Martino takes his place and concedes no points and scores 6 strikeouts, despite suffering an ankle injury on the pitch.

In the fifth attack Viterbo Stella Carni scores two more points with Fortunati and Di Martino and Torri’s double puts us in the clear lead. The match ends with a victory for Viterbo 8 to 4.

SECOND MATCH: STELLA CARNI VITERBO – ROMA BREWERS: 14 to 6

The second match against the young Roma team was immediately characterized by the great determination of our boys.

This time it is Stavagna who pitches and, despite his lack of experience in the role, in the three innings played he concedes only one point to his opponents.

Fortunati’s two-base hit leads Viterbo to score 4 points.

At the beginning of the fourth inning Viterbo Stella Carni leads 9 to 1.

It is at this point that Torri Daniele makes his debut on the mound, who, although he starts with a strike out, is then unable to find the strike area, thus allowing the Brewers to score 5

points. The last inning features the hits of Cusi and Stavagna.

The match ends with another debut in the role of pitcher: it is now Cabrera’s turn, important for the help he provided to the defense.

Manager Roberto Fortunati’s comment at the end of the match: “We return from Rome with two more victories which consolidate first place in the standings. Our results allowed us to maintain first place in the rankings which corresponds to our objective in the qualifying round. In the first game I saw a good team, especially in attack where we had 7 hits, 4 of which were extra-base, but we were still too foul on defense. In the second the boys always had control of the game and this allowed me to try different pitchers in view of the play-offs in June.

The only regret is Di Martino Daniele’s injury: sprained ankle which will force him to rest for about ten days. Given his fundamental role in the group, I hope to be able to recover him as soon as possible.”
