Alpini on bikes to do good

April 25, 2024

The Alpini of Venzone will get on their bikes to reach the Vicenza rally.

The “Ana Group 8th Alpine Regiment Venzone” marries the cause that supports the “Freewheeling Diabetes” charity event, non-competitive pedaling designed and organized by CRAD FVG – ODV (Regional Coordination of Diabetics Associations). Not being able to participate in the three-day (10-12 May) charity ride of the Crad Fvg, because they were busy with theNational gathering of the Alpini which takes place on the same days in Vicenza, the Alpini of Venzone will get on two wheels to reach the city of Palladio (“Road to Vicenza”), wearing the “Diabete a Ruota Libera” t-shirt which has the motto printed on the back: “DIABETES FEARS THOSE WHO DO SPORTS”.

“We greatly appreciate the awareness-raising activity conducted by the CRAD FVG – ODV (Regional Coordination of Diabetics Associations) in collaboration with the professionals of the regional diabetes network, with the patronage of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the collaboration of the Red Cross and Civil Protection and we want to help them by supporting the cause – he explains Gianluca Melillo, group leader of the “8th Alpine Regiment Venzone Group” – wearing their t-shirts and contributing to provide information, because diabetes is not talked about enough even though it is a rather widespread pathology. Directly or indirectly, we Alpine members are also in contact with people, young and old, but also children, who suffer from it. For for this reason we want to do our part by explaining what are the correct actions and virtuous behaviors to adopt to prevent type 2 diabetes and delay its complications, promoting physical activity, healthy lifestyles, correct eating habits“.

Road to Vicenza.

“Road to Vicenza” opens on May 7, in Venzone, cwith the departure of the Alpine troops on two wheels towards Vicenza where they plan to arrive on May 10th. Stops are planned in Pordenone (7 May), Preganziol (8 May), birthplace of Captain Manlio Feruglio (after whom the barracks hosting the 8th Alpine Regiment is named), where the Alpine troops will deliver a commemorative wreath of flowers, Bassano del Grappa (9 May) with a visit to the military shrine of Monte Grappa. Not there will be no visits to places of memory and meetings with representatives of the local Alpine groups.
