Descriptive text here

Cinema becomes the protagonist of the theater. No mistake, it will really happen at the Teatro Sociale di Como which has dedicated this entire Night Season to the theme of space, addressed from different points of view. And obviously the cinema couldn’t be missing: everything is ready for the night marathon from 6pm until dawn, next Saturday 4 May.

The clearly evocative title of the event is “Odyssey in the Theatre” and was born in collaboration with Cinema Astra Como. The one between space and cinema, moreover, is a great love story between interstellar travel, galactic vessels and often unfriendly aliens that have spanned the 130 years of the Seventh Art. And now, directly from the stage of the Teatro Sociale, here is the marathon from dusk to dawn with some of the films that have left their mark on the collective imagination of the Cosmos and its inhabitants. An opportunity to (re)discover some classics of the genre, which have moved, laughed or scared millions of people.

At 6.00 pm, a screening dedicated to families with Pixar’s Oscar-winning animated film Wall-E (6.00 pm), a touching environmentalist fable for adults and children, presented by the Amici dell’Astra association.

The marathon will then begin with Kubrik’s masterpiece, A Space Odyssey (8.30 pm), perhaps the work that has most shaped the collective imagination about the Universe. Capable of bewitching spectators even today, over 50 years after its birth, we will try to understand together why this film is considered legendary and what makes it unique.

But how do you get there in space? And what is life like on a spaceship? Between curious interludes and insights by Cinema Astra, we will discover the immense work “behind the scenes” of the spaceships and the “hidden” professionalism, as the original title states, thanks to the masterful interpretation of Octavia Spencer in The right to count (11.30pm).

But woe betide you if you think that Space and Cinema are synonymous with seriousness! Keeping viewers awake will be the aliens in Mars Attack (02.00) and the visionary Tim Burton, a satire overflowing with ideas and caustic humor, capable of reinventing the “invasion” genre.
For those who manage to resist this far, the Intergalactic Guide for Hitchhikers marathon concludes (4.00 hours), an extraordinary and fun journey to the edge of the universe, in search of the meaning of life and… a towel. Inspired by the cult series of the same name, hitchhiking will be the only way to return to Earth! At the end of the screenings, courageous binge-watchers will be able to enjoy a delicious breakfast, prepared by the F&B partner Il Baretto di Moltrasio.
