ANCONA – For years he has been fighting for greater decorum in the hamlets and now he will also be able to bring his voice to the city council. Fabio Mecarelli, president of the Anti-degradation Association, in a few weeks he will sit on the majority benches in place of Patrizia Serangeli. The councilor of Fratelli d’Italia has resigned to take up, it is rumored, the role of sole auditor of Ancona Revenue. Mecarelli, who ran on the FdI list in support of Mayor Silvetti in the last local elections, obtained 117 preferences, making him the most voted councilor candidate in Montesicuro. Happy, excited and aware of the responsibility he will have towards the people of Ancona, Mecarelli is receiving numerous messages of congratulations. «For me, the City Council is the tool to be close to the needs of the citizens, especially the inhabitants of the villages and of the Plan who have always supported the Anti-degradation Association – explains Fabio Mecarelli -. It’s a great responsibility, I feel the full weight of my role. I will do my utmost to satisfy everyone.” Mecarelli already has clear ideas and is ready to present proposals to redevelop the hamlets. «I will continue to carry forward the Association, indeed I will involve members in civic volunteering saving municipal coffers. I am referring, for example, to small ordinary maintenance interventions and the mowing of the grass with the means made available by the Municipality. I know I can count on their availability. In short, I would like the Association to be an extension of the municipal administration. It is an ambitious project, I hope it will be well received.”

And it doesn’t end here because Mecarelli intends to bring news of tourist, economic and social interest to the hamlets. «The villages have a lot to offer. I would like to bring the market once or twice a month, find a space or room that can serve as a meeting place for adults and children and have a branch of the Municipality where citizens can find documents and forms without having to go to the centre. These are important projects that will not be implemented immediately, but I am sure that we will bring something positive to those territories. I repeat: where the Association can replace the Municipality with cost savings we have already achieved a great result.” Becoming a city councilor is an important goal that Mecarelli wanted to dedicate to his battle partner Paolo Baggetta, who passed away in recent months. «It all started with a banner written by me and Paolo hanging on the ruins of Sappanico. It was with him that I founded the Anti-Degradation Association and I know that, even in this new role, he would have been able to advise me. I dedicate this result to him.”
