“No, it is not a route we are considering at the moment”. This is how Lorenzo Lagorio – country manager Italy easyJet responded in a very decisive tone to the question from Gabriele Ceresa of Malpensa24, a question posed on the sidelines of a presentation in Luton, that is, whether the orange company has more or less the intention of opening the direct connection between Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino.

The route had been operated until a few years ago by easyJet, but also by other carriers, although there is a certain demand coming from the areas close to the Lombardy airport, there is no interest from easyJet at the moment. The closure of the route, the journalist writes in the article, has always been due to problems of poor economic sustainability.

easyJet opens three routes this year: Salerno, Sitia, Gran Canaria and Toulouse reopens. 22 aircraft based with over 8.5 million seats put on the market, of which 5.7 million for the summer. easyJet is the most important customer for SEA at Milan Malpensa. In Italy easyJet moves over 16 million passengers, see the results disclosed by ENAC in its 2023 report.
