The investigation, started by the military in April 2023 and concluded in the following November, made it possible to ascertain that one of the two subjects, as the owner of a body shop, had set up a parallel market for car spare parts, obtained through theft of vehicles sometimes perpetrated by himself, as well as insurance fraud, with the participation of four other accomplices, one of whom was affected by the precautionary measure.
There are at least 10 episodes, linked by a similar modus operandi, including the fraudulent collection of two compensations for a total amount of over five thousand euros from some insurance companies.
During the activity, made particularly difficult by the movements carried out with the “relay” method during the transfers of stolen vehicles, by the frequent use of cars registered to the various customers of the body shop, three cars were found, two of which were partially damaged or some parts missing; a 1970 Vespa 50 and some plates and spare parts of various kinds.
The military also seized a garage used by the owner of the body shop and prevented the payment of the sum of approximately four thousand euros due to a fraudulent compensation procedure. During the execution of the measure, inside the body shop subjected to seizure, three further motorcycles were found with engines found to be stolen.
