The construction site for the redevelopment of the Vittoria Colonna Museum will start by the end of June. The works, financed with private funds thanks to a partnership between public and private, will cost one and a half million euros and according to the timetable will be completed by December 2025.

Even according to the mayor Carlo Masci, this is «the most important operation of the five-year period that has come to an end, because today’s partnership represents an operation destined to lead the way in Italy, inaugurating a public-private path that frames the cultural discourse in a different way , with the ability to create the conditions for the development of a museum in the center of the city, recovering a historical-artistic-cultural element and restoring the right importance to an artist of international level like Summa, with his Porta del Mare”. La Rocca thanked all the entrepreneurs who contributed, including Di Vincenzo, Maresca and Marramiero.

The intervention, explained architect Zazzara, starts with the redevelopment of the Colonna Museum, a complex of three thousand square meters in total including the basement, with the aim of recovering the cultural spaces and having areas available for exhibitions and artistic initiatives extemporaneous. The main entrance is expected to be moved to the side of the gardens “which will absolutely not be altered – he added – nor will the botanical essences existing today be touched, removed or modified”. On the ground floor of the museum there will be a café-bookshop for small events, while on the upper floor all the original windows, closed during the previous redevelopment, will be reopened. The artistic direction was entrusted to the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome. For the realization of the intervention, the Abruzzo Belle Arti foundation has allocated around one million euros for the Colonna Museum and the gardens, while PescarAbruzzo has made 240 thousand euros available for the Porta del Mare and the square. And the first exhibition of the reborn Museum will be dedicated to Vittoria Colonna.
