“I would say that they are annoying characters. Because they are people who drink and for this reason they speak in a loud voice. Furthermore, some of them use drugs. They are people who get by day by day. Now they gather in Piazza Amiani, before they were at the Pincio, there is It was the period of the Rocca and some were even banned from staying in San Lazzaro by the police commissioner. We can only remove them with short-term actions.”
What can you do in these cases?
“When we intervene we can give him a report for disorderly drunkenness and following this also an order of removal for up to 48 hours. Then we have to notify the police headquarters. We never sit idle.”
What has this administration done to improve things?
“He focused a lot on the city’s video surveillance system. But the equipment alone gives little more than a statistical data. The men and women behind it are very important. In these 5 years of my command, thanks to the administration that it allowed me to make new hires, we went from 40 agents to the current 54, with the imminent hiring of two new units. Before, we were very few because now, due to protocols, when we are on duty we have to manage all the findings ourselves road accidents in the municipal area. There is no longer a patrol or two dedicated to this priority service. Then there is the surveillance of the historic center and finally a patrol monitors the neighborhoods”.
