The arrests in prison have been confirmed for two fifty-year-olds from Aprilia who last weekend were responsible for a joint armed robbery against a pharmacy in Genzano. The two criminals, already known to the police for similar crimes committed in the past, and who will therefore remain in prison, were questioned at the Velletri prosecutor’s office. The heist had netted them around fifteen hundred euros in cash.
The episode occurred on Saturday afternoon around 6pm. They showed up in front of the pharmacy on Via 25 Aprile in Genzano with both faces distorted by hats. Dark glasses, scarf on his face and a weapon in his hand, a semi-automatic pistol. Once they entered the business, they headed towards the counter and ordered the two pharmacy employees to give them all the money present in the cash register at that moment. They grabbed around 1,500 euros and then fled. A robbery that lasted just a few minutes, a quick action in an attempt not to attract too much attention.
Then, the two criminals got into a Fiat 500, which they had previously rented, and took the road to Cecchina. Once the report was received a few moments later, the carabinieri of the Velletri company went on their trail and intercepted them between Genzano and Ariccia. A daring chase ensued, starting from via Perlatura, in which other patrols of the Carabinieri from Cecchina, Castel Gandolfo and Pomezia also took part, arriving to reinforce their colleagues.
The escape continued for a few more kilometers until the two robbers were finally stopped and arrested near the tracks of the Cecchina railway station. Both, after abandoning the car on an internal road, tried to desperately escape on foot, trying to lose their tracks in the thick vegetation along the Rome-Velletri line. However, the soldiers blocked them after firing some shots into the air to get them to stop.
The two 50-year-olds were immediately arrested. The gunmen also recovered the entire stolen goods, the fifteen hundred euros in cash which were then returned to the legitimate owners. However, the investigators’ work is not finished. We are trying to understand whether the two criminals are responsible for other robberies that occurred in recent months in the Castelli Romani area.
