The historic train season begins in Campania

Historic trains return to the most beautiful and panoramic railway lines in Campania.

This year there will be a total of 65 races on the calendar for a total of over 13 thousand seats available on board. On historic trains, the possibility of transporting your bicycle for free using specially equipped historic luggage compartments is always guaranteed.

The program of initiatives for 2024 includes itineraries that were particularly appreciated in past editions:

-Archeotreno: connects the city of Naples with the nearby archaeological areas of Pompeii, Paestum and Velia, declared world heritage sites by UNESCO – first run on Sunday 5 May

-Reggia Express: from Napoli Centrale directly in front of the entrance to the Royal Palace of Caserta, the ancient Bourbon royal palace of the Kingdom of Naples – first ride on Saturday 11 May

-Pietrarsa Express: the historic train that connects the center of Naples with the National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa – first run on Sunday 19 May

– Irpinia Express: the historic train that runs along the historic Irpinia railway line, Avellino – Rocchetta – first run on Sunday 2 June

Also confirmed are the itineraries from Naples to Fragneto Monforte on the occasion of the International Hot Air Balloon Festival, and from Naples to Pietrelcina for the anniversary of the death of San Pio, traveling along the Sannio Railway, the tourist line of the FS Foundation.

The initiative, now in its ninth edition, is promoted by the Campania Region which has invested in the creation of services dedicated to residents and tourists, planning over 2.1 million euros for the historic trains in the three-year period (2022-2025), and is carried out through the Campana Mobility, Infrastructure and Networks Agency – ACaMIR, in collaboration with the Italian State Railways Foundation and FS Italian Tourist Trains.

Tickets to travel on board the historic trains in Campania can be purchased from 27 April on all Trenitalia sales channels, ticket offices, apps and the official website.
