Don Vittorio Cristelli passed away at the age of 93

Farewell to the journalist priest “son” of the Second Vatican Council, capable of recounting, interpreting and sometimes inspiring the changes in the diocesan Church and in Trentino: he passed away in the early hours of Wednesday 24 April, at the age of 93, Don Vittorio Cristellilong-time director of the diocesan weekly Trentino life.

Born in Chatelineau, Belgium, where his family had moved from Miola di Pinè to allow his father to work in the mine, he was ordained a priest in 1955 in Trento.

He was initially parish vicar in Mori (1955-1957) and Oltrisarco-Bolzano (1957-1961); then catechist in Trento attending the faculty of philosophy in Padua (1961-1965). He then became a professor at the Seminary in Trento (1966-1967), director of the School of Social Preparation (1962-1982), director of the diocesan weekly Vita Trentina (1967-1989) for which he was also a commentator in the early 2000s, teacher at the School of social work for professional educators (1962-2005).

Resident in Villazzano (2006-2020), since 2020 he was a guest of the Casa del Clero in Trento, where he passed away after a period of illness.
