A moment from the press conference

This morning, 24 April, at the Martelli farmhouse in Borgo Montone, the “Food is health” protocol was signed between the Romagna Local Health Authority and Coldiretti Ravenna which aims to contribute to promoting well-being on the plate and health as healthy eating lifestyle. Specifically, peasant chefs, farms linked to Campagna Amica and Terranostra agritourisms in the coming weeks they will launch healthy cooking courses aimed at citizens and patients, with the participation of health workers from the local health authority and the involvement where possible of family members and caregivers. These are practical workshops that will allow participants to acquire skills relating to the preparation of meals. The workshops will be held in each of the three health districts of the province of Ravenna (Ravenna, Faenza and Lugo) and will in any case be open to all citizens, precisely to promote this project widely.

One of the locations for the courses will be the Martelil farmhouse. “We want to promote well-being and taste starting from local, zero km and seasonal products – said the owner Gianluca Martelli, who is also the president of Terranostra Ravenna – and defend our productions which risk being threatened by fakes made in Italy”.
“This project – explained Roberta Mazzoni, director of the Ravenna district of the ASL Romagna – is in continuity with the regional prevention plan and regional law 19 which concerns the development of healthy lifestyles. We need to encourage the fight against sedentary lifestyle, promote correct nutrition and limit what is harmful to health, such as smoking and alcohol”.

“Today we live longer, for every one hundred children there are two hundred elderly people over 65 – added Raffaella Angelini, director of the public health department of the Romagna Local Health Authority – but chronic pathologies are increasing. This is why it is more important than ever to help citizens adopt a healthy lifestyle which limits the onset of these pathologies as much as possible. In fact, as the protocol mentions, “The objective of being able to change behaviors that determine a clinical risk for the person’s health, as they are capable of causing non-communicable chronic generative diseases”.

Nicola Dalmonte, president of Coldiretti Ravenna, also spoke and “considers this new collaboration with the ASL to be fundamental and will offer the raw materials useful for laboratory interventions but also the functional environments for carrying out practical cooking workshops”. At the end, refreshments with seasonal products were offered to those present.
