GIULIANOVA. With summer just around the corner, the Evoluzione Sostenibile association, led by the former administrators Francesco Mastromauro And Archimede Forcellesecalls for greater attention to the Giulianova railway station, as a fundamental hub for the province.
On the occasion of the entry into force of Trenitalia’s summer timetable, starting from 9 June to 15 September, the summer stops of Frecciarossa trains to and from Milan Centrale will be reinstated. Specifically, there are two stops: one departing from Giulianova at 12.30 and one arriving at 5.20pm. These are in addition to the two ordinary Frecciarossa stops, active all year round. «We are concerned that the situation at Giulianova station has remained stagnant since 2017», states Evoluzione Sostenibile, «despite the efforts of the past administration led by mayor Mastromauro, the number of Frecciarossa stops has not increased, unlike other stations tourists from other regions”. Forcellese, former councilor of the Mastromauro council, underlines that other stations such as the nearby San Benedetto del Tronto, currently boast 14 stops, while Giulianova, which represents the reference airport of the province of Teramo, connecting the territory with the Adriatic route, has remained backwards. As the elections approach, the association of the two former administrators expects the candidates to commit to finding effective solutions.
«It is essential, however, that these promises are translated into concrete actions», adds Forcellese, «the problem has an important impact on the competitiveness of economic activities and has not received sufficient attention in recent years».
