Cell phone while driving, boom in sanctions. Pressure on street checks in Pozzuoli – Cronaca Flegrea

POZZUOLI – Over 25 percent of motorists use their smartphone while driving: this is the alarming figure that emerges at the end of the checks carried out in recent days by the municipal police along the streets of Pozzuoli, to safeguard public safety. Motorists caught with a smartphone behind the wheel received fines ranging from 165 to 660 euros, plus the loss of 5 points on their driving licence. In case of repeat offenses, the additional sanction of suspension of the license from 1 to 3 months was applied. Checkpoints were instead located at the entry points into the city throughout the weekend: over 100 vehicles stopped, several of which did not have the necessary mandatory travel documents. High fines for unreadable plates, driving without a licence, without an inspection carried out, for speeding. Furthermore, three vehicles without insurance that were driving freely were seized. Emergency response from the White Helmets also for road accidents: in this case too, fines were issued for driving without a license and without insurance coverage.

THE MOVIDA – Particular attention then in the nightlife areas, along the coastal strip of Licola: two minors were stopped aboard unregistered pit bikes, while they were staging motocross races along the city arteries, putting their own safety and that of others at risk. These are two fourteen-year-olds driving illegal motor vehicles, whose parents have been sanctioned. There has been no shortage of interventions to stop the phenomenon of illegal parking: in the port area, municipal officials stopped and removed a man who had been given Daspo. Crackdown also on school buses, for the safety of those traveling on board collective transport: over 20 vehicles checked and 3 registration cards withdrawn. Administrative police operations are underway for the occupation of public land: 12 premises have been reported for misappropriation of space without regular payment of the municipal fee. Furthermore, during the weekend, checks were carried out to combat illegal sales on the Pozzuoli seafront and to protect public peace, in compliance with the municipal acoustic plan.
