As per the program of the municipal administration of Busto Arsizio, on the occasion of the 79th Anniversary of the Liberation with various local associations and with the “History belongs to us” schools table, the event “Freedom is participation: Impressions” was held this morning of a partisan”.

The event was organized by the “Nicolò Tommaseo” Comprehensive Institute of Busto Arsizio, and more specifically the “Fabrizio Prandina” secondary school at the Sala Tramogge dei Mulini Marzoli. The event aimed to reflect together on the universal values ​​of freedom and opposition to dictatorships and war.

The morning began with the greeting of the Headmaster, Professor Cristina Parisini, who moderated the event, and the introduction of Councilor Daniela Cinzia Cerana, Councilor for Educational Policies, who recalled the role and importance of the event and the commitment of the proposing educational institution as well as the work of the “History belongs to us” schools table. She thanked the children of the third classes of the “Prandina” School, and their teachers, who did careful preparation work and also prepared the digital contributions as well as some of the morning’s speeches.

Therefore, the lawyer Liberto Losa, president of the ANPI of Busto Arsizio, spoke about the important role of the Liberation as well as of the Resistance in Busto Arsizio since the years of the birth of the fascist era, underlining the roles of civil society and women as well as the origin and advent of the famous Liberation proclamation read by a radio located in Busto Arsizio which started the commemoration of the Liberation linked to the date of 25 April. Then there was the intervention of the architect Carlo Valentini, historic group leader of the Busto 1 Scout Association, who spoke about the creation of the OSCAR association and the subsequent activity, starting from a personal experience he had as a child. Not only with the help of a video, he presented the other side of Liberation, the one made with non-violent actions. Finally, Mr. Umberto di Donato (Founder and Director of the Typewriter Museum of the Metropolitan City of Milan) spoke and explained how he came into possession of the manuscript he published with the title “Impressions: Sentiments of a partisan”. Di Donato, with his engaging manner, captured the attention of the audience, not only of students but also of citizens who came to the event, including the municipal councilor Santo Cascio, highlighting some details of the manuscript which then made it possible to identify the value. The manuscript book was donated by the author to the classes, teachers, authorities and guests present. In particular, some students from the “Prandina” school read passages from the book which they reflected on over the past few weeks.

The event ended with general thanks and the singing “Bella Ciao”.
