Catanzaro is preparing with enthusiasm to welcome the “Convittiadi” for the second time

Catanzaro is preparing with enthusiasm to welcome the Boarding school. After the success of the last edition, for the second consecutive year the capital confirms itself as the ideal stage for the largest sporting event which sees boarding schools from all over Italy competing.

In the week from 28 April to 5 May, there will be approximately 2200 students and educators who, from all over Italy, will participate in the great celebration of sport and sociality organized by the Convitto Nazionale “P. Galluppi”, directed by the professor Stefania Cinzia Scozzafava.

The project, again this year, was partly financed by the Education Department of the Calabria Region, with input from the vice-president Giuseppina Princi and found the full support of the Regional Council in the people of the president Filippo Mancuso and the president of the Budget Commission, Antonio Montuoro.

In addition to Scozzafava, Princi and Montuoro, the president of the Province of Catanzaro was present at the press conference to present the details of the event Amedeo Mormilethe mayor of Catanzaro Nicola Fiorita and the culture councilor Donatella Monteverdithe president of the Chamber of Commerce of Catanzaro, Crotone and Vibo Valentia, Pietro Falbo and, via remote connection, the president of ANIES Anna Maria Zilli.

At the beginning, the students of “Scalfaro” who designed the logo and coordinated graphic image of the Convittiadi, Emanuele Amelio And Rebecca Liaexplained how they attempted, from a technical point of view, to combine “minimalism and classicism, with a graphic reference to the golden ratio”, creating a “simple but impactful logo, with the colors of the Italian national team, light blue, and the tricolour. Without forgetting the ball, which recalls some of the sports involved in the Convittiadi”.

“What emerges first and foremost from this edition of the Convittiadi is the courage, which is doubly appreciated if, as in this case, the action is repeated – said the mayor Nicola Fiorita– This is thanks to the courageous and far-sighted manager and collaborators. Having managed to have this possibility reassigned is a sign of appreciation for the work done last year. It is a beautiful and important competition, which unites many young people in the name of sport and fair competition. It’s nice that, from all over Italy, they discover our territory through days that will probably mark their lives and it’s also a great commercial for our territory. The Municipality participates in the Convittiadi with great moral support and a small logistical support, fortunately we are not alone, we have created a network and the Region is close to us. It’s always nice when an initiative brings us all together around the same table.”

“Our kids who want to carry on sporting practices must absolutely be supported by our institutions – added Montuoro – From the Region our absolute compliments go out for what has been created but above all for the tenacity, the courage, the healthy madness behind this wonderful event. If today we talk about an even more popular second edition, which will reach 2200 students and companions, it is because it is a sign of great interest in the work carried out and we can only be proud of it same courage, to enter important showcases like this. It is an event that involves an important supply chain, thanks to which many subjects will have the opportunity to make our potential known even outside our Region. This is “extraordinary Calabria”. We have found important resources in the direction of a great synergy to relaunch this region with its unexpressed potential, which is so many.”

The manager Scozzafavaspeaking and thanking all the Municipalities and Institutions involved in the initiative, highlighted how “support in terms of vision is sometimes even more important than support in economic terms”.

Fundamental to the relevance of the initiative is the institutional network between several municipalities, in particular those of Lamezia, Girifalco, Pizzo, Pianopoli and Curinga, which as underlined by the president Mormile “they have created a collaborative network which is an opportunity for growth and must not be an exceptionality or a mere moment of showcase. It should be our mission, that of those who represent the institutions called to promote the territory and excellence”.

“The Convittiadi move in the direction of promoting and enhancing the most virtuous image of the Region – he confirmed Giusy Princi– narrate a different Calabria which wants to launch the economy through tourism. The institutions are moving towards achieving this objective, which becomes a collective effort.”

Then it is the turn of the president of the Chamber of Commerce Pietro Falbo which, addressing the kids directly, encourages them to participate lively because “our territory must come out on top”. “Already a year ago – said Falbo – I was a little worried because I understood that it was an important project. This year we went further. It means that this is a winning project, around which we can build a true distinctive element of the territory. Boarding schools are a beautiful thing about our community, of the historic Boarding School of Catanzaro. This type of activity is enthusiastically embraced by the Chamber of Commerce and with a small contribution, because the Chamber of Commerce not only deals with VAT numbers. and register of businesses, but also of promotion, interpreting the needs of the territory and putting them into a system.
