Faenza, the Israeli flag displayed on the Town Hall removed by unknown persons

On the morning of Wednesday 24 April, unknown persons removed and removed the flag of Israel from the portico of the Municipal Residence.

The flag was moved together with the Palestinian flag and the peace flag, as well as the banner with the words “Ceasefire now”. The display of the three flags was foreseen by a motion, voted unanimously by the city council on March 23rd.

“A gesture that leaves us saddened – they communicate the council group leaders of Faenza – following which, we also considered removing the Palestinian flag as the approved motion contained a clear message calling for an immediate ceasefireaware that the solution to the tragedies that the people in the Gaza Strip are experiencing can only pass through pacification, normalization and mutual recognition of Israel and Palestine.

A message aimed at protect the civilian population first and foremost and in particular minors, young people and the most vulnerable people.

The presence of the two flags, with the peace banner in the middle, was a cry for peaceaware that the path to resolving the conflict also passes through recognition and awareness of the need to create two states for two peoples.

In firmly condemning the gesture we renew the hope and request for an immediate ceasefire and the return to a perimeter of rules and actions within the scope of International Law and the protection of civilians.”
