CREMONA – On the occasion of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, which is celebrated every 28 April, today in the headquarters of the Cremonese Building School – CPT, it was the White Bench inaugurated in memory of the victims at work.
The initiative was organized by the Workplace Prevention and Safety Structure of Ats Val Padana, in collaboration with Ance Cremona, the Cremonese Construction School – CPT and Inail Cremona with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of prevention and combating activities in the context of Health and Safety in the workplace.
The general director of Ats and the president of Ance were present Carlo Beltramithe president of the Cremonese Building School Authority – CPT Eugenio Villathe provincial trade union organizations in the sector and the Inail Cremona manager Monica Livella; the Chief of Cabinet of the Prefecture of Cremona also participated Maria Rosaria D’Acunzothe Commander of the Guardia di Finanza of Cremona, colonel Massimo Dell’Annathe councilor for Social Policies and Fragility of the Municipality of Cremona, the president of the Province of Cremona Mirko Signoroni and the representative of the Filea CGIL union from Cremona Roberto Rocchi. Also present was a group of students from the Cremonese Construction School – CPT.
“Accidents at work represent a phenomenon that must be combated resolutely – said the general director of Ats -. Recent news events are evidence that we need to do more and continue to keep attention high on a phenomenon that spares no one. The task of Ats, of the institutions and of the entire community is to promote the culture of prevention so that each individual is aware and adequately trained to defend their own life and that of others”.
“We thank Ats Val Padana for this initiative which involves the training body of our sector responsible, together with the Cpt, for free assistance to businesses and workers. – declare the presidents of Ance and the Cremonese Building School Authority – CPT, Beltrami and Villa -. The Ance Builders Association has always played, together with the provincial trade union organizations of the category (Filca Cisl, FenealUil, Fillea Cgil), a role of raising awareness, information and training of all the professional figures who enter the construction site, from the works manager, to the project manager, to the technical director and safety coordinator and to the construction worker (multipurpose construction operator). In this regard, with the signing of the latest provincial contractual renewal, in agreement with the trade union organizations of our province, we wanted to increase the number of hours of mandatory safety training for workers and technicians/employees already provided for in Law 81/2008 . We are the first association that, equally, has activated a greater number of hours of safety training to be carried out in the CPT, based on the employees present in the companies. As social partners we believe that continuous mandatory training is a priority for employees, but also for employers, be they self-employed workers or industrial or artisan companies”.
Livella, head of the Inail office in Cremona, recalled that “today we find ourselves here, united, to pay homage and remember those who sacrificed their lives in the course of their work duty or who were seriously victims of it. It is a solemn moment, a moment of deep reflection on the safety and well-being of every worker. In front of this white bench we must reflect on the role we all have in ensuring that such tragedies do not happen again. This powerful symbol speaks to us today, reminding us that every human loss is a wound for the entire community, but also that every accident at work is avoidable. The Inail data for the first two months of the year 2024 indicate that the phenomenon of accidents and occupational diseases is increasing in our country: every step towards safety, passing through prevention, is a tribute to those we have lost and a gift of life for those who continue to work”.
