TRAPANI – “We remain perplexed by the presentation of the political area of the Honorable Safina, disguised as a party event. It is legitimate to build a political area, and perhaps even try to bring ‘the MP’s party’ back into vogue, what is embarrassing is to do so by not declaring it and plastering the cities with posters that lead one to think that it is an initiative of the Democratic Party” .
This was said by the provincial secretary of the PD of Trapani, Domenico Venuti, and the president of the provincial assembly of the dem Valentina Villabuona, regarding the event scheduled for Saturday 27 May in a hotel in the provincial capital.
“In recent years we have built a party ‘among the people’ with commitment and sacrifice – they add -. In this way the Democratic Party grew and became the first party in the province of Trapani, with the election of Safina himself thanks to everyone’s contribution”.
Villabuona and Venuti then continue: “The party ‘among the people’, however, does not mean growing thanks to political operations resulting from transformationism. We will always contrast the ‘honorable party’ with that of the members – they underline -, which is why we are forced to publicly distance ourselves from a partisan initiative which arbitrarily uses the symbol of the Democratic Party and which, together with the provincial secretariat, does not we will participate.”
According to Venuti and Villabuona it is “a clumsy attempt to delegitimize regularly elected party bodies, as unfortunately – they point out – has happened cyclically since the election of Safina, who evidently did not fully understand the difference between regional elections and congress”.
The provincial secretary and the president of the PD Assembly then add: “Safina’s contribution will always be welcome, when she decides to compete in the bodies and respect the roles by making her role as a parliamentarian available”.
It’s still: “We would have appreciated the contribution of the Honorable Safina even in such a complex moment to keep the provincial headquarters of the Democratic Party open which, however, will close on April 30th due to his sole responsibility. Safina, in fact – recall Venuti and Villabuona – has chosen to withdraw a commitment made before the Provincial Directorate having not found a secretary, a president and a secretariat at her service but always available for a democratic discussion and to reach out, as demonstrated with the proposal to enlarge the provincial secretariat and with the unitary congress of the Trapani Club”.
Venuti and Villabuona then conclude: “We wish Safina good work in her new political project, warning her however from using the PD symbol which is exclusively available to the provincial secretary and the democratically elected club secretaries”.
