Corigliano-Rossano approves the regulation on municipalities

At yesterday’s city council meeting – Tuesday 23 April – the regulation concerning the municipalities of the municipality of Corigliano-Rossano. They will be there are seven municipalities in the municipal territory and the regulation will be made up of seven articles which are the result of a process that starts from the municipal statute, approved just over a year ago, to arrive at the work of the General Affairs Commission chaired by the councilor Domenico Rotondowhich he illustrated yesterday, after the introduction of the deputy mayor Maria Salimbenithe result of the mediations between all its components.

The municipalities were formally established by article 13 of the municipal statute “territorial areas of administrative decentralization” with the aim of adapting the administrative activity to the polycentric structure of the new city, the one made possible by the merger. The municipalities will move in line with the principle of horizontal subsidiarity, i.e. around those requests that emerge from the debate of contributions and ideas, fueled by citizens’ consultations.

The municipalities, thus, they will be bodies for collecting and connecting citizens’ needs and requests residents and municipalities may formulate deliberative proposals to the municipal council on matters relating to the problems of their territory and express non-binding opinions for the benefit of the executive body of the entity.

Each municipality also provides figures with political-administrative liaison functions with the municipal bodies, i.e. delegates who will be able to participate in a consultative capacity in the municipal councils when issues relating to the problems and development of the respective municipalities are the subject of discussion.

“Today is another truly important day for the city of Corigliano-Rossano which continues the long path that started from the merger and which today sees the approval of the municipal regulation, that is, reinforcing that principle of horizontal subsidiarity which means fundamental enlargement of the democratic process – declared the mayor Flavio Stasi.

“I shared the line of the City Council which wanted to give a clear approach to this regulation, giving dignity to our great territory by trying to enhance its peculiarities so that they make our great city even richer, from every point of view”.

“In our five years, despite the difficulties caused by the lack of harmonization of the two former Municipalities, the COVID emergency and a sometimes sterile political dialectic, we also managed to close this difficult path. The Municipality of Schiavonea-Fabrizio, the Municipality of Amica-Toscano, the Municipality of Cantinella-Apollinara, the municipalities of the two historic centers and so on: with the municipalities we reverse the logic of institutional verticalisation, giving even more dignity to the territories”.
