Pistoia: the Fosso della Casaccia has been rearranged upstream from the confluence with Ombrone

The Fosso Casaccia in Pistoia during works

Multiple interventions on the old bank walls, bridles and debris stabilized in the riverbed for an investment in greater hydraulic safety of 70 thousand euros

An ordinary manual maintenance has just been completed in Pistoia, on the Fosso della Casaccia for over 500 meters upstream from its confluence in Ombrone, in the Via di Gello area.

During the maintenance operations, various critical issues were found from a hydraulic safety point of view: the deterioration of the rough stone walls on the two banks, the failure of the various small existing dams and the now consolidated deposit of various stones and debris which they risked compromising the regular and safe flow of water in the center of the riverbed.

Hence the implementation assessment of a 70 thousand euro intervention that could solve the various problems and give greater safety to the watercourse: the walls were re-plastered, a weir that was in very poor condition was re-centered and widened to upstream and downstream of via di Gello with the movement of the various soil deposits and the cliff protection of the two banks.

“This is the chain of hydraulic prevention and soil defense that the Reclamation Consortium manages to guarantee with the resources from the remediation contribution and the ordinary maintenance within its competence – is the comment from the Medio Valdarno Reclamation Consortium – over thousands of kilometers of watercourses, even small and peripheral ones, we carry out scheduled mowings which allow the inspection of the banks and the identification and then the resolution of the various hydraulic criticalities that arise”.
