The MEI returns to Faenza. In just a few days already 300 artists

Mei is back and SuperStage is back, the contest to participate in the new edition of the Faenza Independent Labels Meeting which, after the success of the Stra-Mei against the Flood with over 30 thousand attendees and as a major tourist and cultural event in the city, will start again with a new edition.

Registrations are open until August 29th and no further. The competition is free and open to all artists and bands. The Mei SuperStage is the official contest of the MEI, and is aimed at all emerging artists and bands from all over Italy who want to get involved to play at Mei 2024.

25 years since the death of Ivan Graziani and 30 since the release of “Jack Frusciante left the group”

Among the initiatives, which will be held in the Piazza del Popolo, the Duomo, Molinella and other spaces and theaters being defined, worth mentioning is the opening on 4 October with the Arte Tamburin Prize. This year it will be awarded to the female voices of Santa Baleraincluding that of Matilde Montanari, recent winner of the Golden Peacock. A special prize will be awarded to Radio Koper which marked, as a sort of “independent radio of the time”, the success of Romagna Mia by Maestro Secondo Casadei 70 years ago.

On Saturday 5 October the great authors will be at the center: the 25 years since the death of Ivan Graziani with the concert by Filippo Graziani, who brought the music of his father Ivan, historic and unforgettable pioneer of Italian rock, back to the top of the charts and live events.

Furthermore, the 30th anniversary of Enrico Brizzi’s book will be celebrated “Jack Frusciante left the group” and will present a live preview of Beatrice Antolini’s new album, one of the best expressions of independent Italian songwriting. On Sunday 6 October the great Bolognese singer-songwriter Claudio Lolli will be celebrated with the screening of a complete and unpublished docu-film on Claudio Lolli with a
recent live held in Bologna curated by Danilo Tomasetta.

Among the events are of course confirmed the Record Fair in the Salone dell’Arengo, curated by Music Day, e It’s Marke’ in the Piazza delle Erbe area. Furthermore, some off events are already planned during MEI 2024, among which we highlight a first edition of a wave festival curated by Loto Studio on 4 October at Piccadilly, a review on the theme of music and work with awards also at PIccadilly for the tenth year of the contest organized by the CISL.

Then, on Sunday 6 October, a closing in Piazza San Francesco with the 50th anniversary concert in support of the Parish of San Francesco with the musicians who 50 years ago organized a first major concert in the parish theater of San Francesco.
