The Agrigento MP Calogero Pisano welcomes the statements made to the press by MEP Annalisa Tardino on the need to build an airport serving the central-southern area of Sicily and states: “Appreciation for the position taken by MEP Annalisa Tardino who today reiterates what I have been supporting for some time, namely the fundamental importance that the construction of an airport would have for the socio-economic development of the Agrigento area. Everyone knows of my commitment on this topic, brought by me to the Chamber, to the Chamber of Deputies, for the first time, on 9 May 2023. As everyone knows that the art. 8 bis of the Southern Law Decree, which has become to all intents and purposes State Law thanks to the favorable vote of the government majority (colleagues from the M5S and the PD voted against, it is right that the citizens of Agrigento know this), which provides for the possibility of creating an airport in the province arises from my amendment. A process that I personally followed from the beginning until the project drawn up by the technicians of the Free Municipal Consortium was sent to the Ministry of Infrastructure. I am confident that the MIT will express a favorable opinion on it and that the Agrigento Airport project will be included in the National Airport Plan”.
