The first edition of Rome Summit, an economic forum promoted by the young people of the Christian Union of Executive Entrepreneurs (UCID), will be held on May 15, at Palazzo Borromeo in Rome, home of the Italian Embassy to the Holy See. The meeting, which was attended by the presidents of the youth organizations of the eight major Italian trade associations, will be an opportunity to express a vision of the company valid for the years to come and a series of concrete proposals to make it come true. “We are on the field with our proposals for a fairer economy. The objective of the Rome Summit is to encourage dialogue between businesses, the Church and institutions”, underlines Benedetto Delle Site, president of the Ucid Youth Movement.

The Vatican Secretary of State, Card. Pietro Parolin, who will open the proceedings, the president of the Chamber Lorenzo Fontana and the vice-president of the council and minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani, who will bring their greetings to the event.

The first edition of “Rome Summit”, the event promoted by the young Catholic entrepreneurs of Ucid (Christian Union of Business Managers) to encourage a concrete and constructive dialogue that brings the social teaching of the Church to the center of the economic life of the country, aims, with a focus on the new generations, on collaboration between businesses, the Church and institutions, formulating concrete proposals to public and institutional decision makers. The meeting, which will be held on May 15th starting at 4.30 pm, will be introduced by a lectio by the Vatican Secretary of State, Card. Pietro Parolin and will be hosted by the Italian Embassy to the Holy See, at Palazzo Borromeo.

The place chosen is not accidental: “We thank the Italian Embassy and Ambassador Di Nitto for giving us the opportunity to start, in a place rich in meaning for our country and for the Holy See, a dialogue that intends to start from the heart of the Church, mother and teacher and which heads to the top of the institutions, parliament and government, because today the social teaching of the Church has so much to offer and the Holy Father is perhaps the only true international leader still capable of questioning and stimulating the new generations. Catholic entrepreneurship can make an important contribution, but we must act concretely”, explains the president of the Ucid Youth Movement, Benedetto Delle Site. “The Rome Summit was created to give life to a new economic forum, a periodic event that has Rome as its headquarters not only territorially but above all morally”, continues Delle Site, who then focuses on the objectives of the event.

“Young entrepreneurs – he says – are able to take the field with real, concrete proposals, which arise from the typical experience of those who find themselves managing a company and representing thousands of others through the business representation organizations that have accepted our invitation.” Many – and very representative – business associations will be present through their under 40 representatives: Confindustria with the president of the Young Entrepreneurs Riccardo Di Stefano, Ance with the president Angelica Donati, Confartigianato with the president Davide Peli, Confcooperative with the new president Andrea Sangiorgi, Federmanager with the coordinator Antonio Ieraci, Confagricoltura with the president Giovanni Gioia, Confapi with the president Eustachio Papapietro, Coldiretti with the Giovani Impresa delegate Enrico Parisi.

“The proposals that we will present ground the social doctrine of the Church and touch on the themes of new entrepreneurship, to be promoted and supported, sustainability, new technologies and above all the dramatic demographic crisis underway, which worries us both as citizens and as entrepreneurs. We address our appeal to public decision makers at every level of government and we want to be heard”, underlines Delle Site. The initiative also aims to be a particular declination of The Economy of Francesco, the movement that arose with the Pope’s appeal to young people to commit themselves to laying the foundations of a new economy. At the end of the speakers’ interventions, the “Manifesto for ethical business” will be shared, a document that contains the key principles of Christian teachings on entrepreneurial activity.
