Descriptive text here

On the occasion of the holidays, Thursday 25 April and Wednesday 1 May, XNL Piacenza will be open to the public, with free entry, to allow tourists and art enthusiasts to visit the two ongoing exhibitions in the galleries of the Center dedicated to the contemporary arts of Foundation of Piacenza and Vigevano.

the xnl Piacenza exhibitions

This is the “Sul Guardare” cycle, with which XNL Arte invites contemporary artists to interpret the heritage of the museums and collections of the Piacenza area. Born from a collaboration with the Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage Office of the Diocese of Piacenza-Bobbio, the second act of the project features the monumental sculptures and refined engravings of two powerful artists of our time – Berlinde De Bruyckere (Ghent, 1964) and Carol Rama (Turin, 1918-2015), which give rise to an unprecedented dialogue with an important Renaissance sculpture from the diocesan collections, recently attributed to the well-known Pavia sculptor Giovanni Angelo Del Maino.
Again in collaboration with the Diocese, the third act of “Sul Guardare” is a personal exhibition by Andrea Sala (Como, 1976), in which the artist presents a new production of sculptures in fragile materials – terracotta, ceramic and glass – exhibited together with liturgical objects, cases, sacred vestments, containers, candlesticks, coming from the deposits of the bishop’s palace of Piacenza.

The two exhibitions create a reflection on resilience to pain, between vulnerability and strength, on the container and content, on the role that rites play for a community and on the power of symbols. As on the regular opening days of the exhibitions – which can be visited every Friday, Saturday and Sunday – on public holidays the Center will observe the usual continuous opening hours from 10.30am to 7.30pm.

free guided tours

In conjunction with the exhibitions, XNL Arte offers a calendar of free guided tours to encourage a direct approach to the languages of contemporary art. The public will be accompanied to discover the exhibitions and the history of the historic building that hosts them, once home to the Enel offices restored in 2020, which preserves, among other things, a cycle of canvases created in 1928 by the painter Luciano Ricchetti on the theme of Agriculture.
To book the guided tours, conducted by the director of XNL Arte Piacenza Paola Nicolin and the coordinator of the Arte projects Cinzia Cassinari, you need to book by writing to the email address [email protected].
