In Busto the Venus of Rags and the Third Paradise by Pistoletto. The «coup» of M(a)y Fiber

BUSTO ARSIZIO – May brings Fiber Art to the city two iconic works by Michelangelo Pistolettointernationally renowned artist from Biella: la Venus of Ragswhich last year was in Naples (and ended up incinerated), will be exhibited at the Palazzo Cicogna museum, while the Third Paradise, which was exhibited at the United Nations in New York, will find its place at the Textile Museum. “This year we made the coup,” he admits the mayor Emanuele Antonelli. «With art, Busto renews its textile identity» adds the deputy mayor and councilor for culture Manuela Maffioli.

The works of Pistoletto

Manuela Maffioli with Maestro Michelangelo Pistoletto

An exploit that is thanks to the contribution of private sponsors who support “M(a)y Fiber Art and textile courses between tradition and sustainability” the widespread event that from May 4th to June 2nd will lead to Busto Arsizio four exhibitions/installations in the two civic museums (Cicogna and Tessile) e eight collateral events in seven private locations. The department led by Manuela Maffioli has in fact managed to secure the two works of maestro Pistoletto (who is now 90 years old), and perhaps it is the first time that a single city exhibits them at the same time. The famous one Venus of Ragsembodiment of the synthesis between beauty and industrial production, will be set up in the temporary exhibition spaces of Palazzo Marliani Cicogna using waste fabrics supplied by local companies committed to the topic of textile sustainability. She gets to Busto after touching many important squares, last year Naples, where it was set on fire by an arsonist. The Third Paradise instead, with the symbol of infinity that seeks a new balance between nature and society, it will be exhibited in the courtyard of the twin rooms of the Textile Museum. As is displayed at the UN Headquarters reporting the 17 sustainability objectives of the 2030 Agenda.

Bust and his DNA

«Much more than an eventfor Busto it is a story that starts again and starts again – this is how he defines M(a)y Fiber the deputy mayor Manuela Maffioli – an ambitious goal that takes it back to its origins, to its DNA. Busto returns to being one of the textile capitals, which is expressed in the contemporary world and looks at the mandatory demands of sustainability”. With M(a)y Fiber «Busto finds herself again – claims the councilor – thanks to an operation that follows the evolution of the times and involves the social fabric of the city”, and which it will not end on June 2nd with the closing of the exhibitions. «For the city and all the actors involved, cultural associations, companies, a research center, private individuals and textile enthusiasts – underlines Maffioli – begins an important journey of art, textiles and sustainability in partnership with the Pistoletto-Città dell’Arte Foundation”. And Busto discovers «cutting-edge city», as he defines it Fortunato D’Amicorepresenting the Foundation, which is based in Biella (one of the textile capitals) and, with 280 “embassies” around the world, aims to «guide this path towards sustainability», for ethical fashion that respects people and the environment.

Miniartextil is back

Among the exhibitions there is the fifth edition of Miniartextilwhich will be hosted in the twin rooms of the Textile Museum, with 54 works “mini-textiles” «selected from over 200 linked to the theme “Denudare feminas vestis”, which refers to the “comense” Pliny the Elder in the two thousandth anniversary of his birth”, as he explains Carlo Pozzoli of Arte&Arte, which takes care of the project and implementation. The key guest of this edition will be Zimbabwean artist Moffat Takadiwa, with two works on display. Four other Miniartextil collateral exhibitions will be hosted, respectively, in the venues of A&A law firm (“Subtle soul” by Kimiyasu Kato), De Piante Editore (“Contemporary tradition” by Valeria Scuteri), Puce&Partners law firm (“The essential is invisible to the eyes” by Mimmo Totaro) And Boardwalk Srl (“Annotations” by Antonio Bernardo).
