The fiftieth edition of the “San Valentino 14 February” literary prize will take place on Saturday 27 April, organized by the Amici dell’Umbria Agostino Pensa association. Here is the program of the packed cultural day which will see the participation of poets and writers from all over Italy. At 9.30, visit the Basilica of San Valentino. At 11am, the award ceremony of the San Valentino literary prize, fiftieth edition of poetry recital, anthology of poems, fiction and non-fiction, will be held in the council room of Palazzo Spada. Also on the program is the presentation of the book by the writer and historian from Ferentille Carlo Favetti “Pane Zucchero e Vino”.

The book retraces moments of life lived in that town of Valnerina in the 1960s/70s. The life of an altar boy in relationship with the parish priest, two characters compared, in the stories of everyday life and parish life: kindergarten, school, village festivals, the characteristic characters who animated the village until the 1990s 80. Memories told with skill, full of sensitivity, descriptive in every detail.

The program continues at 12.30 with a walk in the historic center of Terni. At 4pm, visit the Marmore waterfall.

The examining and judging commission is made up of Fabio Bernardi, Anna Bonifacio, Marco Capitani, Carlo Favetti and Elvira Pensa. Here are the winners for free-themed poetry: Giuseppe Minniti with “Some Words of Love”; Maria Carla Spanò with “Red Shoes”; Marina Filiputti with “Ricomincio da qui”; Gianni Busato with “My life is a purple sky”; ex aequo Mario Aliprandi with “Comunque CB”, Marcella Costa with “Rimembranze”, Annalisa Cutrona with “Anima mia”, Diego Fantin with “Le Marmore”, Monica Florian with “Ti donai”, Cristina Gaiani with “Sibillina”, Paola Pasqua with “At every step”, Gabriella Rugginello with “Luna d’Ottobre”, Cristiana Tomaselli with “Nonsenso la primavera”, Gianfranco Trabuio with “Memento”.

For the anthology section: Mario Meola with “The Seasons of Love”, Valter Paro with “L’irrinunciabile”; Rino Follador with “Visions of life”.

For the unpublished fiction and non-fiction section: Andrea Cappanna with “È l’Amore”; Piero Rainero with “The hotel of fairy tales”; Luisa Gregori with “Una stella”.

Essay section, special prize for Adalberto Andreani with “The danger of the new Terni – Rieti road”; special unpublished book prize to Beatrice Andreani with “Burning the ships while waiting for the front 1941- 1943”.

The event enjoys the patronage of the Umbria Region, the Province of Terni and the Municipality of Terni.
