Let’s talk about Cosenza and his season on the roller coaster. The initial part of the championship was characterized, in fact, by a lot of enthusiasm thanks to the new arrivals (above all the welcome return of Onesie) and the president’s renewed ambitions Guarascio. Then a declining phase, and several fluctuating results led the Bruzia club to decide on the change between coach Caserta and mister Avenues. The play-out nightmare swept away thanks to the latest results and now, as we were saying, the possibility of also chasing the unexpected playoffs. Luciano De Paolaformer rossoblù midfielder, spoke in the columns of “Courier of Calabria” to talk about the future of the number 9 of the Wolves of Sila and of the Cosenza season. Here are his words:
“I start from the assumption that Gigi was an icon in Cosenza. I know Saurini well who coached Tutino in the Napoli Primavera and told me a lot about him. He told me that he is a special player who, if he finds the right environment and the warmth of the fans, makes a difference like few others. Cosenza is his place. I don’t know if he will be able to reach Gigi because for me Gigi was the apotheosis of Cosenza football for his attachment, seriousness and balance. But he can get close”.
Up again Onesie. “If Guarascio wants to continue playing football in Cosenza, he has no alternative, he must redeem him. Tutino has become the symbol of this team. I think that a shrewd and intelligent entrepreneur like him understands well that a deal like this can only benefit him. Tutino is the right man to bring people closer to the stadium and if he lets himself go, many fans will leave forever.”
About the season. “Cosenza is very strong this year, the strongest team that Guarascio built. Especially from midfield up. The problem is that Cosenza is an important square, the “San Vito”, which today is called “Marulla”, is a heavy stadium and you have to have a great personality to stay in it, otherwise you can get into difficulty. In the past, players of the caliber of Marulla, Zunico, Napolitano, Ciccio Marino and many others have played there. Today’s Cosenza has immense quality. He has a leader and finisher like Tutino, he has Marras who drives me crazy and reminds me of Strefezza, and then again Florenzi, Calò, D’Orazio, all good players. However, when you arrive at delicate moments of the season, you have to be ready to keep the bar straight. In my opinion, this thing has been missing a bit this year.”
