Municipal: in Sassari civic pressure for a very wide pitch

SASSARI, 23 APR – After Cagliari technical tests on a very wide pitch also in Sassari. The center-left has rallied around the candidacy for mayor of Giuseppe Mascia, provincial secretary of the Democratic Party and among the theorists of the need for a generational change at the helm of the party, the coalition and, above all, the city. His investiture is welcomed positively by the Constituent Assembly for Sassari of the former magistrate Mariano Brianda, candidate in 2019 from the centre-left and defeated in the run-off by the mayor, Nanni Campus, and by the civic group which now presents itself again with Nicola Lucchi, lawyer and councilor for urban planning , as frontman. In the running so far for Palazzo Ducale are the rector Gavino Mariotti for the centre-right, Giuseppe Palopoli with Sassari Svegliati and Manuel Pirino with Generazione Sassari, Brianda sends an unequivocal message. “Let us work loyally to build a very wide field, which leads to victory in the first round”, he asks. And the Constituent Assembly will propose to Mascia “the need to expand the forms of citizen participation and guarantee the expectations of the free and numerous electorate, not included in party circuits, which we have intercepted and valorised”. The request is that representative figures be identified for the city government “both of the traditional electorate and the disappointed one – this is Brianda’s position – with the broader involvement of civil society and those who no longer vote”. On the other fronts, if it seems certain that Palopoli and Pirino will not give up their solitary race, Tore Piana takes a step back with Sassari Unita, which could join the centre-right. FdI and allies are defining alliances and borders with the civic leaders in Sassari. Everything depends on what the Psd’Az will do, fresh from a national congress full of tensions and two self-suspended officials including the regional councilor Piero Maieli, who after the re-election of the president Antonio Moro and the secretary Christian Solinas has distanced himself from the four Moors. Maieli would be inclined to support Lucchi and the civics, while the Sardinians could join the center-right and strengthen Mariotti. (HANDLE).
