Brumana: the cycle path on the 29th of May in Legnano is absurd and dangerous!

LEGNANO – A question on the dangers of the new cycle path that the municipality wants to build on the 29 May in Legnano. The councilor proposed it Franco Brumana.

“The non-reserved cycle lane project in Via 29 Maggio limits the availability of parking spaces in an area where they are lacking and above all constitutes a very dangerous solution, because cyclists would have to travel along a 1 meter wide strip, being grazed by buses which would have to travel along the remaining part of the roadway, which would be only 2.75 meters wide. To understand the absurdity of this solution, consider that buses, for example the MERCEDES CITARO just bought by Stie, are 2.55 meters wide. Even a small deviation of a few centimeters of vehicles or bicycles will be sufficient to cause serious accidents.

Therefore, in the event that the council, for reasons not yet known, deems it necessary to intervene on the cycling of Via 29 Maggio, the alternative solution of the “cycling road” is proposed, provided for by art. 2, paragraph 3, letter E bis of highway code, which entails priority and precedence for cyclists and a speed limit of 30 km/h. It would be a much less dangerous solution, it would not affect parking and would involve lower costs”
