Great enthusiasm and participation last Friday in the Cerignola council chamber for the event “Zero Smoking: A Breath of Health”. Not the usual conference but an interactive and engaging gamelab proposed this year by the association Buildwith the scientific contribution of Veronesi Foundation, the patronage of Municipality of Cerignolaand financed by the window and door company Oknoplast. The event was a unique opportunity for students to learn the dangers of smoking in all its forms, from the traditional cigarette to steam systems and tobacco heaters. In the room with the president of the ‘Costruire’ association Chiara Castaldimoderated by the journalist Rosaria Albanesethe Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Cerignola Rossella Bruno, the director of the IC “Di Vittorio-Padre Pio” of Cerignola Maria Luisa Russoand the physicist and scientific communicator for the Veronesi Foundation Alessio Perniola.

“Oncological events they upset my family, which is why I really want to talk about prevention. The data shows us that, if we talk about smoking, we need to address younger people and the Veronesi foundation has these two projects aimed at them which I believe are truly effective” declares Castaldi. And in fact the projects of the Veronesi Foundation, “Smoking and other Stories” for middle schools and “Escape Smoke” for high schools, presented with great passion and light-heartedness by Dr. Perniola, involved students who were enthusiastic about the interactivity of quizzes and games, a useful starting point for explaining to them the harm of smoking, hidden advertising and health protection. The Foundation will return to Cerignola on May 30th and 31st, on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, guest of the ‘A. Einstein’.
