The “Lean” method to improve home care has also been tested in Altamura – AltamuraLive.it

The ASL Bari, with the LUM University and the ASL Caserta, conducted an innovative experiment to improve home care through the “Lean” with the aim of simplifying organizational processes and improve assistance to people over 65.
The experimental project was carried out in the Social and Health Districts of Bari, Altamura and Gioia del Colle and involved an update of the management procedure for patients in the entire company territory. The home care operational units, general practitioners, nurses, social workers and professionals dealing with rehabilitation were involved.

The experimentation path followed five phases, moving from the traditional organizational approach to the process one, according to the principles of “Lean Thinking“, a management style that aims to reduce waste and create excellent processes at low cost with the contribution of people. The monitoring of data, bureaucratic procedures, forms and all information useful for the organic flow of work were examined, with consequent identification and elimination of any obstacles and critical issues.
The experimentation is part of the innovation of local assistance in line with Ministerial Decree 77 and PNRR funding and now moves on to the application phase with the aim of simplifying patient care and providing increasingly efficient home care.
