New SOS from the San Carlo area in Terni, where work to improve the road system has been underway for months. The problem, while waiting for the intervention to be completed, is the same one already complained about in March. That is, temporary isolation from the fraction. Now there is further news on this front: «Until Friday there was a traffic light system, now they have removed it – reports a woman who lives on the road that leads to Collelicino – and the roadway has been narrowed. And there is the continuous strip.” Result? «You can no longer turn left for those coming from Terni. Anas told us that to turn we have to go to La Castagna.” Which is just under two kilometers away, as indicated by the sign in the area. «In this way, we are effectively isolated. We can’t use the bus and, especially for the elderly, there are difficulties.” In this regard, the police were contacted. But there is the company’s ordinance and therefore for now it remains like this. Temporary inconveniences that citizens hope can find a different solution.
The councilor intervenes
«When we talk about San Carlo – observes the regional councilor Enrico Melasecche, when asked on the topic -, we are talking about a project born 20 years ago, which involved a very long coplanar road and absurd costs. As regional councilor, I took it over, we completely revised it and Anas contracted it for an amount of 5.8 million euros. Now the works are progressing well, they are almost completed, but what I wonder is: is it possible that in the face of such an important intervention, which also resolves the enormous risks for road safety in that stretch, where there were people crossing for go from one side to the other, are we unable to go beyond the controversies of small cabotage? We would need – observes Melasecche – greater common sense to go beyond the chatter, the banal protest that risks overshadowing the good things. Then, everyone is free to do what they want, but Terni would need something else, a different interpretation, especially in this phase which to say is complicated for city life is an understatement.”
