San Giorgio a Modica, the program of the liturgical celebration

After the official proclamation of the new board of directors of the Catholic association of bearers of Saint George for the three-year period 2023-2026, whose presidency has been attributed to Simone Lucifora, and after the blessing of the members for the tenth anniversary of the foundation, the celebrations in honor of the martyr knight, patron saint of the city of Modica. Tomorrow is the day of the liturgical feast. At 8 am the firing of cannon shots; at 9.30 there will be mass presided over by Father Giuseppe Stella, parish priest of the Mother Church of San Pietro Apostolo in Modica, at 12 there will be mass presided over by the parish priest, the priest Michele Fidone. At 6pm, then, there will be the Eucharistic celebration presided over by the bishop of the diocese of Noto, Msgr. Salvatore Rumeo. The procession of the little bearers will follow with the reduced reproduction of the simulacrum of Saint George. This is the itinerary: Corso San Giorgio, Corso Crispi, Piazza Santa Teresa, Corso Regina Elena, Corso Regina Margherita, Passo Garaffa, Corso Crispi, Corso San Giorgio and return to the cathedral. On Wednesday, however, at 7pm, there will be a holy mass presided over by Father Armando Fidone and animated by the parish community of San Massimiliano Kolbe in Modica. Thursday, at 7pm, the holy mass and baptismal liturgy presided over by the parish priest, the priest Michele Fidone. The media support of religious initiatives continues by the provincial president of Confcommercio Ragusa, Gianluca Manenti, and the sectional president of Modica, Giorgio Moncada. “There can be no doubt – they both say – about the value of this festival which has already been part of the list of traditions for some time as regards highly attractive initiatives. We are certain that this year too will be an extraordinary edition from the point of view of attendance”.
