A policeman, a financier and the owner of a business end up in the emergency room, luckily in code green. This is the sad outcome of the riots that broke out outside the Adriatic before the kick-off and at the end of the match between Pescara and Ancona, which the Pescara team lost. In the pre-match, a stone was thrown at the window of a shop located near the stadium and the owner, rescued by the Life Pescara ambulance, was slightly injured on the head by splinters from the broken glass. In the post-match, however, the police intervened between the away sector and the Adriatica stand to avoid contact between the two fans. The rioters threw powerful firecrackers and some splinters hit a policeman and a financier. The three injured were forced to go to the emergency room and fortunately no one suffered serious consequences. Now it will be up to the police to view the videos and identify the people who were involved in the riots.
THE ENVIRONMENT
Chants, teasing and, considering the disappointing progress of both, an acceptable crowd setting for the Adriatic derby. Just over 4,700 spectators in the stands, you have to go back almost six months to find such a number in the Pescara stadium (5,100 with Recanatese, last 29 October). The away section is packed, in the first half the 741 Ancona fans dominate the duel in the stands, taking advantage of the absence of the Pescara ultras. The latter, in fact, continued their protest against President Sebastiani and only entered the stadium during the interval.
THE SICKNESS
A bit of apprehension just before the half hour mark, when a fan from the Marche fell ill. The intervention of the health workers who entered the guest sector to provide him with the necessary care was rapid. Luckily nothing serious. Shortly afterwards the same scene in the Curva Nord, where a Pescara supporter feels ill. The intervention of doctors is again necessary, but in this case the problem seems more serious, since the fan is accompanied on a stretcher outside the stadium. At the start of the second half the atmosphere lights up, the blue and white fans enter chanting first against the club and then against their Ancona rivals. Spagnoli’s second goal sent the red and white supporters into ecstasy and the groans from the home crowd became increasingly insistent. The sterile reaction of the blue and whites only makes things worse and in the end the Pescara ultras reject the team’s greeting. Cuppone and his teammates return to the changing rooms with their heads down, but instead it’s a big party on the other side.
