The forecasted weather for the new week

Over the next week it will seem like we are returning to winter due to a meteorological context characterized by lots of rain and snowfall down to low altitude.

The next few days promise to be surprisingly harsh for Spring, with Italy appearing to wrap itself in a practically winter cloak, at least in some regions.

An intense arctic air mass will hit the country, bringing with it a sharp drop in temperatures, widespread rain, gusts of wind and snowfall at unusually low altitudes for the period in several regions.
According to the latest updates from international computer centres, in particular those of the European Center for Medium-Term Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), the situation will begin to become critical already Monday 22 April when an icy current of Arctic origin will flow rapidly through Central and Northern Europe, then heading towards the Mediterranean through the so-called Rhone Gate.

This type of atmospheric dynamics will favor the formation of yet another cyclone in the Mediterranean, which is expected to trigger intense rainfall and thunderstorms, starting from the north-western regions of Italy. Temperatures will drop further and the snow it will also make its appearance at low altitudes, approximately 300 meterswith possible snowfall also in Cuneo and significant accumulations in the Piedmont valleys.
The worsening of weather conditions will also rapidly extend to the regions of Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto and northern Tuscany, where heavy rains and temporal.

Between Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 April, the bad weather will move towards Southern Italy, bringing rain and strong winds. The accumulated energy and the collision between different air masses could generate extreme phenomena such as hailstorms and storms, which requires maximum attention.

The weather will remain unstable at least until the day of Liberation Day, April 25th, particularly in the central and northern regions. A continuous alternation of showers with temporary clearing is expected, but with temperatures that should begin to rise slightly, marking a timid but welcome return to less rigid conditions, particularly from Friday 26 and over the weekend when good weather will return to most regions.
