Forlì, four high schools compete in billiards

President Park was the scene of a match between schools with bowls. As many as 8 teams representing 4 high schools in Forlì (about thirty boys and girls in total) took part in the first bowls tournament to try to win the title for their school. The team that wins the podium will represent the city of Forlì on May 11th in Cervia on the occasion of the Fibis (Italian Sports Billiards Federation) National Student Games. A day of socializing and fun, as well as a “special” mathematics lesson. “Prof Secondo Giunchedi, creator of the project, it is an example in that he promoted different teaching in the years when the school was very rigid and followed well-defined lines – he states the deputy mayor and councilor for Sport, Daniele Mezzacapo -. When we met, the teacher presented me with the idea of ​​the billiard tournament, a discipline that allows you to apply mathematics in a different way. I have decided, and the Administration with me, to embrace the cause and support this first championship between institutes”. Mezzacapo concludes: “A way of promoting this sport starting from schools precisely to recover a tradition that risks disappearing. An opportunity for younger people to come together and come back to animate our clubs, which have always been a meeting point for many generations.”
