Viterbo, inauguration of the fourth edition of the Biennial School of Higher Education in Judicial Archeology and Crimes against Cultural Heritage

VITERBO – The inauguration of the fourth edition of the festival took place on Friday 19 April starting from 3 pm Biennial School of Higher Education in Judicial Archaeology® and Crimes against Cultural Heritage (SAG)two-year period 2024/2026 as part of the Conference “Organized crime and cultural heritage. The theft of Nativity of Palermo”organized by Center for Criminological, Legal and Sociological Studies (CSC).

The event, which rachieved a great success, it took place within the splendid setting of the National Etruscan Museum of Viterbo – Rocca Albornoz.

The Director of the Museum, Dr. Sara De Angelis, welcomed the CSC, the speakers, the new students and all the public who attended, exposing an unprecedented Amphora panathenaic, the equivalent of an ancient Olympic gold medal. He also set up the display cases that surrounded the room with archaeological finds, telling the listeners the story that they themselves wanted to pass on to us.

Institutional greetings were brought by President Cevoli and Dr. Massini Tarsetti, Director of the Library Scripta Hic Sunt of the CSC and by Dr. Natali, Director of the SAG.

Present in the room were the Vicar Vice Prefect Dr. Andrea Nino Caputo, the Police Commissioner Dr. Fausto Vinci, the Lieutenant Giampiero Giuliobello of the Guardia di Finanza of Viterbo, the Captain Felice Bucalo Commander of the Carabinieri Company of Viterbo, representatives of the Cultural Heritage Protection Command, of the Municipalities of the province of Viterbo, the President of the Carivit Foundation Dr. Luigi Pasqualetti, the Agricultural University of Tarquinia in the person of Maurizio Perinu, the President of Archhoetuscia Eng. Luciano Proietti as well as journalists, lawyers and, obviously, the new students of the School.

We strongly believe that the first means to protect our cultural heritage and, consequently, our history and our sense of identity, is scientific dissemination, to be understood as making it available to the majority, in addition to operators in the reference sector, of notions and knowledge transmitted by some of the most renowned experts in the field of protection, conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage

The Conference “Organized crime and cultural heritage. The theft of Nativity of Palermo” it was the highest instrument for promoting knowledge, in-depth analysis and debate on the consistency and breadth of the phenomenon of attacks on cultural heritage by organized crime.
