MONDOLFO The associations and the world of volunteering are mobilizing for Francesco Menotti in his battle against ALS. The initiative “Life beyond ALS: a walk with Francesco” will take place on Sunday 28 April, starting at 10am from the Cento Croci multipurpose track and arriving at the Madonna delle Grotte park with a “pasta party” (ticket 10 euros, registration by Friday 26 April). A subscription was opened on the Gofundme online platform on March 26th and 268 donations have already been made so far. «Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis takes everything away from you, you no longer move anything, only your eyes remain intact, and it is with those that I am writing, through an ocular pointer – we read in Menotti’s appeal – It is with my eyes that I am able to communicate, chat, send emails, and it is with those that science today offers me the possibility of moving, moving, going out and returning home in a totally autonomous way with the electric wheelchair. The problem is the exorbitant costs of the special device: it is glasses connected to a PC and managed by software. The cost of the device is 28,000 euros and the national health service does not cover such a cost, so I trust in you to achieve this goal.” The walk on April 28 will be an opportunity to demonstrate closeness and solidarity to the family of the 58-year-old from Mondolfo who suffers from ALS. In recent days a delegation of motorcyclists gathered in support of Menotti in the Cento Croci neighbourhood.
