Tickets for concerts with the Perugia Chamber Orchestra aimed at children and their families are on sale for 5 euros
This year Spoleto is preparing for the Festival as early as next month with a special event dedicated to the little ones: on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May at 4.30pm the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti hosts concerts for children and families of the La musica è project. child’s play. An educational-musical initiative for primary schools conceived by the Festival dei Due Mondi Foundation together with the Perugia Chamber Orchestra, with the reciting voice of Enrico Bindocci, to guide young spectators to discover some masterpieces of the classical repertoire: the Histoire du Soldat by Igor Stravinsky and A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Felix Mendelssohn. Music is child’s play is part of the project The Festival is us, now in its fourteenth edition, dedicated to local primary school children with a structured program of activities, inside and outside the classroom, to get closer to music in a fun and original since childhood. A journey in stages, shared with teachers. The first stage takes place in class, with the preparatory listening materials provided by the Foundation. The second includes participation in the two concerts/workshops: L’histoire du soldat by Igor Stravinskij (Saturday 18 May at 4.30 pm) and Dreams… of a Midsummer Night (Sunday 19 May at 4.30 pm) by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy . The third stage finally includes the possibility of attending the two extraordinary performances of the Midday Concerts, scheduled for Friday 5 July at 4.30 pm at the Auditorium della Stella (Histoire du soldat) and Friday 12 July 2024 at 4.30 pm at the Church of Sant’Agata (Sogni … of a midsummer night).
The Festival dedicates ample space to programming for the little ones: in addition to the events of Music is a Child’s Play, the Due Mondi Kids section includes four shows from the La MaMa Spoleto Open series: The sea guards, we are all pearls of the same ocean by Afshin Varjavandi (29,30 June), Marionettes in search of manipulation by Damiano Privitera (6, 7 July), There was two times by Palazzina Zero (13 July) and a creative workshop on the ancestral fairy tale curated by Lab Sementi ( 14 July), all scheduled at Spazio Oberdan.
There are also many events for the whole family, including the shows of the vertical dance company Il Posto in Via Aurelio Saffi (5, 6, 7 July) and at Palazzo Collicola (5 and 7 July), the show by Yoann Bourgeois, Memory of a fall, a new exciting creation conceived for the Piazza del Duomo (6 July). After Le Bal de Paris by Blanca Li, a new and powerful immersive experience is arriving by the duo Adrien M & Claire B (28 June – 14 July, Complesso Monumentale di San Nicolò). Last Minute is a combination of music, dance, lights and interactive projections.
